Congratulations to the new DAPS team!
Highlights of Our Tenure (2023-2024)
1. Under the guidance of Chairpersons Dr. Alpana Prasad and Dr. Anju Gambhir, the EC successfully organized six clinical meetings, featuring excellent academic programs.
2. Two successful DAPS annual conferences (15th and 16th) were conducted at CNBC and Safdarjung Hospital.
3. The DAPS directory has been updated, with a total of 141 members. With a new joining of 12 new members.
4. The team initiated the Quarterly E-Magazine— DAPS PATRIKA our gratitude to the editors and contributing authors.
5. Public awareness drives were conducted on Pediatric Surgery Day 2024.
6. The association’s registration process has been restarted.

Minutes of Meeting of GBM at SGRH(1 /02/2025)
1. The meeting, successfully organized by Team SGRH, was attended by approximately 50 delegates.
2. Dr. Satish Agarwal shared his vast experience on:
o Recurrent Tracheoesophageal Fistula
o Vaginal Replacement Surgeries
Both sessions were highly informative and enlightening.
3. DAPS Election 2025: One nomination for the post of secretary and 5 nominations for the post of executive members were received who were elected unanimously.
4. Dr Archana Puri took over as the Chairperson of DAPS 2025.
5. The clinical meeting was followed by an online interaction with a Chartered Accountant, who briefed the members on the registration process for the association.
o The consensus was that DAPS should be registered as a society rather than a trust.
o A suitable name for the society needs to be finalized as per government norms.
o An official address for the society is required, including proof of address (e.g., electricity bill). Dr. Ravi Kale has volunteered to provide an address for this purpose.

Scientific meet Topics - :
1. Severe caustic pharyngo oesophageal injury management with long segment colonic substitution.
2. Parenchyma sparing liver resection.
3. Congenital bladder prolapse through a patent urachus.
4. Penile hair tourniquet syndrome.
Other issues discussed
1. Next meet will be organised by RML Hospital And Dr Pinaki will plan it in the second half of July 2025.
2. Yearly meet will be Organised by MAMC and Dr Simmi will plan it between August to December 2025.
3. DAPS website (beta version) was launched. It was agreed that DAPS Chairperson, Secretary and EC members will be responsible for contents and its maintenance. History of our association was discussed and Dr Archna Puri informed us that Dr Thichen had been in the process of writing it. Dr V Bhatnagar informed the gathering about how DAPS was started .All these will be included in the "about us" section of the website.

Summary
The Delhi Association of Pediatric Surgeon’s Clinical Meet, hosted on 26th July 2025 by the Department of Pediatric Surgery at ABVIMS & Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, was a distinguished academic gathering that brought together eminent pediatric surgeons, faculty, and postgraduate trainees from across the Delhi NCR. The event commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the host department, followed by the gracious presence and felicitation of stalwarts in pediatric surgery including Prof. Dr. Dipak Mitra Sir,Prof Dr. Sumita Malik madam, Prof Dr V Bhatnagar sir, Dir. Prof Dr. Subhashis Roy Chaudhury sir , and Prof. Dr. Srinivas sir(Director AIIMS). And many more.Their lifetime contributions and visionary leadership were honored with heartfelt tributes, setting a tone of gratitude and academic reverence.
The scientific session featured four high-quality case presentations highlighting rare and complex pediatric surgical scenarios, including the EXIT procedure for congenital Laryngeal stenosis, thoracic duct ligation for chylothorax, EHPVO management with shunt and devascularization, and a challenging series of cases of duodenal trauma. Each case stimulated thoughtful discussion and shared learning among participants. The meet successfully reflected the spirit of academic collaboration, mentorship, and surgical excellence that defines the pediatric surgical community in Delhi. It concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciation for the host institution, and renewed enthusiasm for ongoing learning and clinical advancement in the field

DAPS Annual Meet was held on 11-12th October, 2025 under the leadership of Dr Simmi Ratan on the theme of “Pearls & Perils in Reconstructive Pediatric Surgery” in New Lecture Theatre-1, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.
The first day began with a workshop session focusing on urogenital reconstructive procedures.
Key presentations included:
• Stricture urethra challenges – Dr. Satish Aggrawal
• Bladder exstrophy repair – Dr. Archana Puri
• Bladder augmentation options – Dr. Prabudh Goel
• Pyeloplasty techniques – Dr. Vishesh Jain
• Single-stage urethroplasty & grafting – Dr. Gaurav Saxena
The inauguration ceremony followed, which was graced by the Dean of MAMC, Dr Munisha Agarwal, Medical Director of LNH, Dr B L Choudhary, Additional MS, Dr Prafull Kumar, Head of the Department, Dr Simmi K Ratan and DAPS Secretary, Dr Shandip Kumar Sinha. The dignitaries share their views on the importance of reconstructive surgery in Pediatric Surgery.
Post-lunch, the scientific focus shifted to reconstructive procedures in DSD and genital anomalies, including:
• Vaginal replacement in cloaca and DSD – Dr. Simmi K Ratan
• Girth reduction Clitoroplasty – Dr. Meera Luthra
The session was followed by an informative session on Tracheoplasty by Dr Ravi Meher, Head of Department, ENT. followed by presentation on Anorectoplasty by Dr Shadip Kumar Sinha
The day concluded with the General Body Meeting of DAPS and evening tea.
The second day expanded the scope to complex reconstructive procedures across systems, covering:
• Phalloplasty: procedure and prognosis – Dr. Rajat Gupta
• Cleft lip and palate repair – Dr. Vivek Manchanda
• Myelomeningocele (MMC) repair – Dr. Nitin Jain
• Esophageal substitution – Dr. S. Roy Choudhury
• Pectus anomaly reconstruction – Dr. Sandeep Agarwala
• Craniosynostosis surgery – Dr. Minu Bajpai
• Hepatobiliary reconstruction – Dr. Pinaki Debnath
The event highlighted multidisciplinary collaboration among pediatric surgeons, plastic surgeons, and ENT specialists from premier institutes across Delhi and NCR.
Comprehensive coverage of reconstructive techniques in pediatric surgery—from urogenital to hepatobiliary and craniofacial domains. The sessions were enriched with practical pearls, technical nuances, and discussions on pitfalls.
The CME had an active participation from leading institutions such as AIIMS, MAMC, Safdarjung ,LHMC, RML, Medanta, Fortis, CNBC, BLK Max, and others with more than 100 delegates attending on the two days.
It was successful academic interaction fostering exchange of ideas among faculty, residents, and practicing pediatric surgeons.
The GBM was held on 11/10/2025.

Delhi Association of Pediatric Surgery (DAPS)

1. Quorum and Validity of Meeting: At start, there was a lack of quorum and we waited for 30 minutes. Then the meeting proceeded after waiting for more than 30 minutes for other members to join physically.

b. Website has been launched with a new domain name- www.thedaps.co.in
c. It was decided to create an honorary web editor post, nomination for which will be done by incumbent chairperson, secretary and EC (no enumeration to be given for the same, the incumbent team can even depute any member from themselves (chairperson, secretary and EC members) for the same.
d. No expenditure as the bank account is frozen due to lack of PAN and GST number
e. The domain has been purchased by the present secretary and details will be passed on to the next secretary for renewal. The GBM decided that expenditure for the same will be from the society account.
f. All old documents including registration forms and initial meeting details, which were saved in register had been converted in electronic format and saved in google drive of secretary Gmail account ( seciapsdelhi@gmail.com).
g. Registration for new members – electronic registration google form had been activated and GBM decide that there is no need to save the forms in physical format, (as per IAPS constitution)
h. Present secretary raised the issue of missing payment receipt ( numbered from 200-300 ) and absence of formal inventory. It was decided to create an inventory of documents/assets including digital assets and format of charge assumption report for future secretary.
3. Changeover of Core Group : It was decided that the changeover of the core group of DAPS will take place from 1st April onwards each year. The term of the Chairperson will be one year, while the term for all other office bearers will be two years.
4. Registration of DAPS:The process of registration of DAPS will be expedited, and the new name of the association will be voted upon by members. Proposed names were Dynamic association of Pediatric surgeons(DAPS) ; ‘Daps Association of Pediatric Surgeons(DAPS); D Association of Pediatric Surgeons(DAPS).Members were requested to offer more suggestions over the next few months
5. Social Media Policy: The proposal to open social media accounts and posting of members’ content via the official DAPS social media accounts in Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, twitter and other platforms was not approved.Dr Simmi K Rattan proposed that a legal opinion should be taken. It was decided that further deliberation is needed, and legal advice will be sought before taking a final decision.
6. Election of Chairperson: Dr. Simmi Ratan was unanimously elected as the Chairperson of DAPS and she will assume charge on 01/04/2026
7. Professional Assistance for Registration: It was decided to seek professional help for the registration of the society and for managing its associated legal and administrative affairs. The Secretary informed about the legal need of the registered society to have an annual report and audited account submitted to the Registrar of society every year. It will entail regular payment to CA, even if no income has been generated by society.
8. Chairperson Dr Archana Puri thanked all for organising clinical meetings and congratulated MAMC for the excellent annual meet.
