Following the clinical presentation, a short GBM was held.
The Secretary Dr. Anju Gambhir welcomed the incoming President Dr. Shilpa Sharma and congratulated the outgoing President Prof SR Choudhury for an excellent tenure held by him. The Secretary then congratulated Dr. Rakesh Bhargava on his recovery from a recent MI and welcomed his presence.
Since we do not have a permanent address of Delhi IAPS chapter Office, we have not been able to register the body till date, nor get a PAN card. Hence it was decided that Office of the Delhi IAPS Chapter shall be housed at C-8/50, Sector 8 Rohini, Delhi 110085 at the clinic of Dr. Anju Gambhir. This was decided by raise of hands of all members present there. There was a suggestion of an annual payment for the same but nothing was finalised.
It was also decided to rename the Chapter as Pediatric Surgery association of Delhi or Association of Pediatric Surgeons of Delhi, since we cannot register the body with the word India or Indian in it (At present the word IAPS in Delhi Chapter of IAPS, when expanded starts as Indian) since it implies it to be a Pan India body.
The next meeting is on 25/04/2020 at Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya as reqested by Dr. Mamta Sengar who heads the Department there.
On account of recent involvement with an elder's sickness at home followed by demise, I apologise for the delay in sending this mail. Kindly excuse.
Wish you all A VERY HAPPY HOLI in advance
Kind Regards to all
Dr. Anju Gambhir

Dear All,
After a long hiatus, the Delhi Association of Pediatric Surgeons came together for a virtual meeting. Prior to this the last meeting was held at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences on 15/02/2020
2020 has not been good as far as any Association activities of the Delhi Pediatric Surgeons are concerned. CORONA ensured that!!!. However, at the National level, many Webinars continued and learning was on.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. In association with Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center and under the aegis of the Delhi Association of Pediatric Surgeons a virtual meeting on Zoom was conducted on 12/09/2020 from 2 - 4 pm. Dr. Shalini Mishra Nee Shalini Sinha graciously organized and hosted the meeting. Participants included members of the Delhi and even National IAPS since it was a virtual meeting as well as members of the PHO ( Pediatric Hematology Oncology) group who had lent their Zoom Id to enable the meeting. There were nearly 100 participants, a good attendance indeed.
Topic for the day was Management of Genitourinary Rhabdomyosarcoma. Eminent speakers disseminated their knowledge on various aspects of the condition.
The meeting started with a welcome note by the Delhi Association of Pediatric Surgeons (DAPS) secretary Dr. Anju Gambhir and a word of welcome from Dr. Shilpa Sharma, chair of DAPS as well.
Prof Sandeep Agarwala from AIIMS Delhi delivered the first talk on Paratesticular RMS. An interesting interaction from the audience all over ensued.
Following this, Prof. Sajid Qureshi from Tata Memorial Cancer Institute Mumbai spoke lucidly on Bladder and Prostate RMS. This too was well received and a lively discussion followed
Dr. Shalini Mishra then proceeded to discuss Vaginal RMS and fielded queries from the participants.
The session ended with the last talk by Dr. Kundan Singh Chufal on the role of Radiation therapy in the treatment of Genitourinary RMS. Audience continued with active interaction.
Prof V Bhatnagar gave his expert comments towards the end.
Cancer survivors and their guardians some
of who are active volunteers with the Childhood Cancer Support Group ( RGCIRC) AASHAYEIN then lightened the mood with their beautiful dance and other interactions
All in all, the inability of the members of DAPS to meet during the preceding 6 months was taken care of to an extent by the excellent academic feast flavoured by the discussions that ensued
Dr. Anju Gambhir then proposed a vote of thanks to the organizers Dr. Shalini Mishra and the PHO Secretary Dr. Sunil Bhat for being gracious enough to lend their Zoom id as platform , the speakers Prof Sandeep Agarwala, Prof Sajid Qureshi
and also the audience for their patient and active involvement. Final thanks was to the AASHAYEIN team for their good work and spirit.
Shall covey convey the theme for the Pediatric Surgery Awareness week this year as decided by National IAPS asap.
Till then.
Take care
Stay safe.
Kind regards.
Anju Gambhir

05/06/2021
Dear All,
It was a pleasure meeting you all in the virtual meet on Saturday 5/6/21 after a long time and after going through stressful times. The social meet provided a platform to lighten the mood and celebrate the enormous talent in our midst. We have so many hidden gems who would not have surfaced if Corona had not appeared and changed the entire working environment.
The atmosphere was highly informal and we enjoyed listening to melodious songs sung by DRS.. SR Choudhury, Rakesk bhargava, Kapil Vidhyarthi and Shalini Misra. Infact the opening song was one composed and sung by Dr. Roy Choudhury and everyone accompanied him in his rendition of Jai Ho by AR Rehman.
Dr. Rakesh Handa then spread the aroma and taste of flowers, foliage and fruits from his home garden and farm through a beautiful collection of patiently taken pictures of them all. Dr. Manu Arora took us all to a Safari in Kenya through his lens and vivid descriptions of his shots. Dr. Harshwardhan whose photographic skills we are well aware of gave us excellent insights into life in Rajasthan and its culture with a gamut of candid and other specific pictures taken in his inimitable professional way.
There was much more to come. We observed the dexterity and ease with which Dr. Deepak Bagga performed difficult Yoga Asanas in scenic surroundings all across the country through pictures taken beautifully by his wife Dr. Poonam. Dr. Simmi whose love for tea I know too well, exhorted the humble 'chai ka cup' so well that the poetess amongst us all came to the fore. Dr Ravi Kale and his daughter Riddhi who are affiliated with Global Dhyaan Foundation brought in serene moments with Riddhi taking us all through guided meditation and mantra chanting.
Dr. Amita Sen took us back in time with her Archeology secrets by giving us detailed information on BhimBhetka Caves, Humayun,s tomb and Mughal Miniature and enhancing her description by the history attached to all. Last but not the least Dr. Devendra introduced us to a new instrument Melodica by playing beautifully on it.
The mixed platter was very delightful and each serving was lapped up by all. All in all it was a delightful evening. We had planned for two hours but how it went beyond three hours no one realised. All those who could not join in were missed, and they too missed.
We plan to have another social meet soon on the same Zoom platform, and would request more people to join in then. The more , the merrier. Also hope to witness more talent through all sections, old and younger to present their skills in the next meet.
Kind regards to all
Anju Gambhir
Secretary DAPS
